Artist’s Statement
The late afternoon light produced elongated shadows which came from the trees behind me and converged at the recently constructed building. They draw the eye into the painting and I love the contrast between the hard edge of a man made structure as a backdrop to the free form organic shadows. The sky and shadows were particularly blue that day.
The Year of the Tree 81 by Jane Price
Jane Price lives and works in Chiswick, London. Much of Jane’s recent work is centred on landscapes dominated by trees, woodland and sunlight. Jane became a full-time artist in 2004, working from Great Western Studios in London before establishing her own studio Chiswick in 2007. In 2010 Jane was shortlisted for the John Moores Art Prize, and in 2014 she was selected for the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition. Jane works primarily on canvas using acrylics and charcoal. The big bold paintings that we have in the gallery are a stunning addition to any room.
