Artist’s Statement
Francesca is the beholder of a traditional bow-top gypsy wagon, which resides in a field in Cornwall. The wagon is a forever source of inspiration to her, these special vehicles are for her personal symbols of travel and freedom, perhaps even a romanticisation of a forgotten way of life. In this painting the dray or cart is being pulled at night by figures in the landscape. The dray is inspired by Indian carts, which are handmade, intricately carved and hand painted.
