Artist’s Statement
As perhaps one of the greatest fictional places, Eden, has become a metaphor for many a story. In this case, Francesca uses ‘Eden’ as, a place of paradise in which two figures dwell. With heavily laden and unique impasto oil and pigment techniques, paint is sculpted onto the canvas revealing two figures together in harmony. The tonal palette makes the yellow ochre’s look like gold against the crimson and umber as the figures converse in the landscape.

  • Francesca Owen is an award winning artist who trained at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art in London and completed an MA at Falmouth University.

    Francesca has worked with both UK and International galleries, exhibiting paintings and installation, giving talks and courses on landscape painting, pigments and dyes.

    ​Francesca has exhibited work in SE Asia, London, Devon and Cornwall.
