Cliff Warner

Born in UK,1961 and based in Staffordshire, England, UK

Cliff Warner is primarily a figurative & abstract mixed media artist working with traditional paint, pastel & charcoal mediums. In addition and separately Cliff creates digital compositions using a process of line work, photomontage & layers & other digital elements. Cliff Warner has been creating artwork for over 40 years. Cliff says "I adapt a formal process together with experimentation, & try not to get too precious about where the composition will lead.  It is then a bonus if the composition has surprise elements which appear, giving an eventual & hopefully satisfactory outcome."

The Solitude Series

The 'Solitude Series' of paintings has been an intermittent and continuing project for several years in an attempt to convey an essence of solitude and reflection using the subject element of a lone figure. Although solitude is classed as a state of seclusion or isolation the intended outcome is to convey positive qualities of peace and quiet reflection which may include aspects of passive melancholy. The series has taken on a more relevant and vital context in these present times and will continue to evolve. The works are completed using primarily acrylic paint. Some of the works include other elements such as paper and pastel. Whilst the figure in each composition is the primary focus the background is complimentary, and is deliberately made vague and abstract with sometimes a suggestion of representation. The colours used in each work create a unique ambience and reflection of solitude.
