Artist’s Statement
This piece is very much a return to my roots. Throughout college and university, I was heavily focused on drawing, in particular charcoal drawing. I was massively inspired by the drawings of Kossoff and Auerbach and I think this can be seen in parts of the piece. The scene was taken from a scrap of newspaper that caught my eye, as I often find myself pulled to drawing train lines and stations, with the tracks giving a good sense of perspective.
