Lizzie McCorquodale is best known for her atmospheric seascapes inspired by living at Cheswick, near Bamburgh, on the Northumberland coast. Walking on the shore daily, watching the clouds and sea in all weathers, she became interested in exploring the relationship between clouds and waves in her painting.

The majority of Lizzie’s work is acrylic and gesso on deep edge canvases. She creates effects, using colour, blending, wash and texture. Lizzie often adds oil glazes, in washes, to intensify depth. Depicting light is very important to her and she strives to create art with spirit and feeling.
