The 'Solitude Series' of paintings has been an intermittent and continuing project for several years in an attempt to convey an essence of solitude and reflection using the subject element of a lone figure. Although solitude is classed as a state of seclusion or isolation the intended outcome is to convey positive qualities of peace and quiet reflection which may include aspects of passive melancholy.
