I painted this in the style of another one of my paintings ‘The Lighthouse’. In this piece I aimed to capture a nightly mist sweeping over the Atlantic as a lighthouse spins it’s light to reflect off the water. In contrast to the density of the colours in ‘The Lighthouse’ I focused on more greyer tones with colder hints of blue to give a wintery feel. This is also why I used a colder silver leaf rather than a warmer gold leaf.
