Daisy Clayton

Daisy Clayton is a 27-year-old, largely self taught, contemporary artist from Oxfordshire. Before pursuing her art professionally in 2019, she graduated from Queen Mary University London with a Masters Degree in psychology. Using her background in psychology, she built upon her previous skills as a painter by focusing her interest on how a painting can make someone feel and the emotions it may evoke. Her inspiration comes from memories, colours, or certain scenery or textures that she sees.

Daisy paints with acrylics to depict a balance of calming tones and contrasting colours. Generally interpreting significant places, she uses heavy texture to create depth, capturing the viewer by inducing memories and emotions whilst providing room for unique interpretation. Working around a focal point, she finishes her paintings by adding gold leaf, rose gold leaf or silver leaf. Daisy’s main area of work has focused around painting landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes and harbours.

Following one of her cityscape series, she was commissioned to paint four 100cmx100cm paintings of iconic London views for a head office in London Docklands (Madison Brook International) which she completed earlier this year. Daisy’s paintings are listed in galleries across Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire and she is being represented for Fresh Art Fair in April 2021.

Daisy’s paintings feature on the Artistic Impressions page of Conde Nast’s design and decoration magazine ‘The World of Interiors’ September and October 2020 issues. Her art can also be seen in the January/February 2021 double edition of GQ Magazine.
